We are taking you to Chestnut Hill, one of Newton's more well-known villages! It's best known for being the home to Boston College and along the Boston Marathon route (& the famous Heartbreak Hill!).
Chestnut Hill officially refers to several small hills that overlook the 135-acre Chestnut Hill Reservoir rather than one particular hill; and there are parts of both Brookline & Boston that are also considered "Chestnut Hill".
It was originally settled into 1665 by the Hammond family. Today Hammond Pond Reservation is an extensive network of forest & trails including Hammond Pond, Webster Woods & Houghton Garden (a magical hidden garden in the woods, highly recommend finding it one day!)
Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of the Christian Science Church, lived and ran the church from her house in Chestnut Hill.
The Long Year Museum, right off of route 9, is a museum dedicated to educating people about the life of Mary Baker Eddy.
Chestnut Hill's Waterworks Museum interprets the unique stories of one of the country's earliest metropolitan water systems.
Want to take in a football game? You can head to Boston College in the fall to watch a BC game. Their alum is dedicated to the school, and you can see hundreds of people streaming over to watch a game!
