Fig Newtons were named after the city of Newton, and Newton Centre hosted a huge 100th anniversary Fig Newton celebration in the 90s!

In the summer, you can find all the locals staying cool and floating Crystal Lake, a 33-area pond nestled in the middle of town.

You can find a plethora of schools & academic institutions in Newton Centre, from Boston College Law School, the Carroll Centre for the Blind, as well as several private schools including: Wellan Montessori School, Newton Country Day & Mt Alvernia.

It's home to Newtonville Books (which originally began in Newtonville!) - a fabulous little bookstore on Langley full of all sorts of books and fun little knick knacks for the whole family.

Craving breakfast for lunch? Johnny’s Luncheonette is famous for it and feels like a trip back in time... not only does it feel like a true old-school diner, the walls are lined with class photos from Newton schools over decades!

Some other neighborhood favorites include Baramor which has live music on its awesome street-side patio, the delicious Tatte, the new Salt Patisserie (a fab bakery opened by Thiago Silva, who has been on the Food Network), Jinny's Pizzeria (which not only has great pizza, but every once in awhile hosts a special "Trattoria Night" with a delicious special menu), and the brand new Cork & Board, a speciality wine & craft beer store!
