Newton Corner came to be in the 1600s when a village grew at the intersection of Washington St. and Center St and originally was a part of Cambridge - it was called at different times Cambridge Village & Bacon Corner.

Then in the early 1800s, the railway came through and many wealthy Bostonians began building “summer homes”, where the Newton country air felt healthier than the city. Can you imagine? Newton Corner became quite the hub in this century - so much so that it was so in demand by Bostonians that they began splitting up lots to add housing, hence why today you’ll find many smaller or multi-family zoned lots on the North Side of Newton Corner as well as in Nonantum.

But when the Mass Pike came in the 1960s, it pretty much split the village in 2 and took away its entire main downtown, creating the Newton Corner we have today - more homes than village!

There’s lot of recreation in Newton Corner: along the Charles River so you can go for a sail or take a kayak out for a ride if you join the Newton Yacht Club; the Daly Ice Rink is always busy with youth hockey games & practices as well as public open skating; and of course you can join the beloved West Suburban YMCA for year round work outs, their outdoor track & kids summer camp!

It’s home to Farlow Park, Newton’s VERY first park, and originally designed by George Meacham, who designed Boston Public Garden - it has its own beautiful bridge over its man-made pond.

Buff’s Pub is a top favorite spot to catch a game on the big screen and dig into a pile of wings & a pint any night of the week!
