We are taking you to Newtonville, another one of our favorites - a lovely residential neighborhood divided by the Mass Pike and dotted with gorgeous old Victorians, lovely greenspace and a charming & quintessential New England village along Walnut St. It's most recognizable to outsiders by its Star Market that you drive under on the Pike on your way into the city!
Cabot Elementary school has a Humpty Dumpty on the wall, and when they were building the new school, the alum was adamant that Humpty Dumpty remain!
It’s home to Newton North High School - one of two high schools in Newton. It's well known for undergoing an almost $200million renovation that finished in 2010, one that ended up costing much more than its original $40M budget. So today it is quite the impressive school and grounds!
You can find the New Art Center, a wonderful community art space with events, displays, a kids summer camp and classes for all ages.
Cabot’s Ice Cream, a beloved ice cream parlor & diner is an area favorite - it even has ice cream cupcakes and locals love the throwback vibes!
The Star Market on Austin Street was one of the first projects in the country to acquire air rights for construction; the supermarket was built over the Mass Pike. Check out the drive-thru underneath to get your groceries hand delivered to your car!
Newtonville has experienced exponential growth these last few years along Walnut & Washington Street- more than most parts of Newton. It started with the addition of a few large apartment complexes & redevelopment that brought along many new local favorites like Mida, Clover Food Lab, La Posta, Blossom Nutrition & much more!
